Out of the four Gundam Meisters, Allelujah is the most gentle and quiet one out of them, generally shy even around those he considers friends. He believes in Celestial Being's intent to stop wars in the world. However, to do that, they themselves must (somewhat hypocritically) fight. Allelujah is willing to do this, though the fact that he must kill is something that bothers him. He tries to think of himself as looking out for others despite this, and looking for a greater good.

He has another personality, Hallelujah, who is much more violent and sadistic. He sees his purpose to be "helping" Allelujah do things that he could not bring himself to do otherwise (usually very violent things, such as killing innocents or having to kill someone face to face--moral dilemmas). Though Allelujah would seem to tolerate his presence at times, Hallelujah’s taunts are beginning to make him think about what his own true nature really is, if such a prescence could come from him. He second-guesses his actions often now, wondering if he is doing it because he is a good person or for purely selfish motivations, as Hallelujah insists.

Character Background in regards to Purgatorium:

Going to sleep one night aboard the Ptolemaios, Allelujah certainly didn't expect on waking up in a ruined city. Realizing that he isn't in Kansas anymore, he tries to figure out where he is and how to get home. The weather is cold; it's the middle of winter, in fact, and he finds shelter in an abandoned flower shop. However, being broke, he ends up having to accept charity from two women---Valeria and Euphemia---in the form of food and a sweater. This does start up a friendship between him and Val, one that will end up becoming very strong as time passes.

After realizing that he needs a job, he applies for and is accepted into SOLDIER, a fighting division at the company ShinRa. He finds out through conversations on the network that people there are from different worlds and times, however, there is some overlapping; he's surprised (and a little amused) to find out that Gundams are portrayed in anime and manga in one person's world. Meanwhile, he strikes an unlikely sort-of-acquaintanceship with Grimmjow, finding that he might be able to get some insights into Hallelujah's personality from talking to a person that seems to be similar.

In an effort to capture Wesker, a dangerous scientist (one of many in Purgatorium), the river running through the city is blocked off. Being a member of SOLDIER, Allelujah is assigned to guard duty, as it is predicted that Wesker will ultimately search for where the water is being kept. One night/early morning, a group of several SOLDIERs encounter the villain in question. Despite his own training and altered body, Wesker is too much for him. Hallelujah somehow manages to come out, but is still unsuccessful in taking Wesker down. Angered at the scientist escaping, Hallelujah proceeds to use his remaining ammo to detonate all of the explosive Pokemon (courtesy of one Professor Hojo) in the area.

Allelujah comes out of this fight with a fractured arm and bruised ribs. He is disturbed, more than anything, at Hallelujah's behavior---something that even after all this time he still can't tolerate. Val finds him at the edge of the city and brings him back to ShinRa headquarters, where he bandages up as best he can.

Not long after this, Shu, the strategist of ShinRa, breaks away and creates his own company called ShuRa. Allelujah is conflicted on whether to leave as well and join ShuRa, as the new company is much more offensively focused and has a section dedicated to hunting down the villains of Purgatorium. It becomes a matter of balancing his own ideals and that of Celestial Being. That said villains are a group of scientists brings back memories of his own time in the Super Soldier Organization, and influences his decision. Ultimately, he decides to leave SOLDIER, and becomes a member of ShuRa's Specialized Threat Operatives division.

The first other person from his world to arrive at Purgatorium is Patrick Colasour, known as the Ace of the AEU. Allelujah is alarmed that an opponent is now nearby, but decides that Patrick isn't enough of a threat to worry too much. His own musings on the subject and that of Celestial Being are unintentionally hackable, and seen by Val. He is forced to explain the group to her, in order that she not accidently slip up and say the wrong thing to the wrong person.

The citizens of Purgatorium find themselves confronted with a voice from below, a Voice that ends up being named by some others as Neffe. No one knows who or what it is; perhaps a god, perhaps something else. What they do know is that this Voice can seemingly see into a person's heart and mind, knowing things that no one else would. It asks questions to those who speak to it, sometimes riddle-like and with predictions of what may happen in the future.

work is a fine distraction
from that which lurks in the dark corners of the city.
of the city in your mind.

you have a great trial ahead of you, allelujah.

can you endure it?

Allelujah is bothered by the words and the further ones: "a trial. an emergence of that which you thought would never have the opportunity." He wonders if the first part had been in reference to Hallelujah, but if that were true, then the second part would mean something that he doesn't even want to consider. Val finds him mentioning Hallelujah in a journal entry and confronts him about it, but he brushes it off.

He is promoted to the head of the STO division around this time. The current work was to track down a missing person, Presea, who was supposedly kidnapped by Szayel-Aporro Grantz (the last of the mad scientist trio). She ends up being released, but they do not get much further in their pursuit of Grantz.

Valentine's Day approaches, and Allelujah finds himself thinking about home again. He wonders how the others are, if time is progressing in the same way; will it be Valentine's Day there, too? What will they be doing to celebrate? He becomes very homesick, wishing that he could see the rest of Celestial Being again, as he sees them as a sort of family.

With the holiday comes a new event set forth by the gods. The minds of many citizens are affected such that their affection for others increases. Enemies might tolerate each other, friends come closer, close friends may seem like more, and as for when a person's already in love... Well. Allelujah ends up all but writing a love letter to Lockon in his journal, quite visible to the outside world.

Coincidentally enough, this is when Lockon arrives at Purgatorium.

Allelujah goes to get him and bring him back to the place he is staying at, blushing and stammering most of the time. While Allelujah is at work, Lockon goes through the network and reads some of the younger Meister's latest entries, reading the unintentionally public letter. "Do you think you could ever love a person like me?" he reads. The next time Allelujah checks the replies to the entry, he finds one from Lockon, reading "...Yeah. I could."

The rest of the night goes by; there is a dinner date and a mutual acknowledgement of their feelings for each other, but nothing goes past a hug and cuddling on the small mattress on the second floor of the flower shop. The next day, when everyone is back to normal, Allelujah realizes what he had done and said and promptly freaks out. There is embarrassment not only on his part but on Lockon's as well, who in fact was not affected by the event, but held those feelings all along (but, of course, claimed that he was affected as well so as to save face). There is an awkwardness between them for some time, as Allelujah finally begins to think about the nature of their friendship and just what it is between them.

A single day later brings a new event to Purgatorium: the age event. Various citizens find their bodies and sometimes minds changed to different points in their lives. Mostly, it is that adults turn into children, with only a few retaining their memories. Allelujah reverts in body and mind to approximately ten years old, when he was a subject in the Super Soldier Organization. His last memory is that of overhearing that they mean to get rid of him. The scared and confused Allelujah is quickly found by Lockon (who as of now is unaffected), but Hallelujah surfaces and runs away.

The next several days are filled with back and forth between the two personalities. At seeing Hallelujah threaten to hurt a child Val over the network, Allelujah runs away yet again, scared of his other half. Once again, Lockon finds him and tries to calm him down. He explains to Allelujah what is really going on, finally convincing him to believe that he is actually nineteen, not ten. He also tells him a little bit about his "future": about Celestial Being, the Meisters, etc.

During this time period, Setsuna arrives at Purgatorium. He is confused as to what he sees, but tries to help Lockon take care of the young Allelujah. Graham Aker appears during this time as well. In a conversation with him, Graham gives his own not-too-positive opinion of Celestial Being, that they "kill people and bully the world into submission". Knowing that he 'grows up' to be a member of the group, he demands that Lockon tell him just how many people they've killed. After hearing the approximation of a few thousand, Allelujah freaks out and yet again runs away. The fact that Hallelujah finds the discovery to be the greatest thing he's ever heard isn't helping matters any.

Soon after, he transforms back into an adult. He is horrified at the things he had said as a child, believing it to be as if he had " just stood up on a goddamn soapbox and preached my entire life history to the city". He comes up with a quick, shoddy excuse for his behavior, but even he realizes that no one's going to believe it.

The fun isn't over yet, though. Barely an hour or so after he's back to normal, Setsuna and Lockon revert to children. Long story short, they do not get along well at all, and Allelujah finds himself trying to the best of his abilities to keep the two from killing each other.

Tieria appears during this, and is immediately relegated to babysitter duty. The four Gundam Meisters are now all together. Tieria is unamused at the fact that Lockon, Setsuna, and Val think that he is a woman. Even less amused at the fact that his soon-to-be boss makes the same mistake.

Allelujah eventually gets Lockon (or rather, Neil) to understand the truth as to what's going on, but decides not even to try regarding Setsuna (or rather, Soran), figuring that in that case, ignorance is bliss. The next few days pass, and after using a stockpile of green food coloring to turn the water in one of the bathhouses green, Lockon and Setsuna finally transform back to normal.

Things finally calm down for a few hours, at least. Unfortunately, Tieria finds out that Allelujah leaked information about Celestial Being to Val. He is Not Happy. At all. This quickly gets overshadowed by a new arrival in Purgatorium: Soma Peries. It is only a matter of time before they come close enough to cause brainwave interference, and after headpainagony, Hallelujah emerges.

He calls out Soma to the fountain for a fight, and brings along the shotgun that Allelujah got from Grimmjow for Valentine's Day. The two battle it out, and soon after the others come to try stop the fight: Val and Lockon, and then later, Setsuna and Tieria. Elle, a girl Hallelujah had talked to over the networks, joins the fight as well; at first against Hallelujah (since he had called her out as well), but then against the others as she sees them trying to stop him. Hallelujah is still fighting strong despite the number disadvantage, and it isn't until Lockon snipes him in the leg that he is taken down enough to knock out. Elle electrocutes Lockon right after, sending Val into a limit break, which takes care of Elle. Val takes Soma back to her house, while the others take Hallelujah back to theirs.

Allelujah is filled with an overwhelming sense of guilt when he comes to, knowing what Hallelujah had done, and that he had tried shooting at Val and Lockon on more than one occasion during the fight. However, Val and Lockon eventually get his spirits raised again. It is also at this time that Roxas, who had previously talked to Hallelujah and found out their situation, makes Allelujah an offer in that he could use his keyblade to separate the two. Allelujah finds it interesting, but rejects it despite what had just happened, wanting to deal with the problem himself.

Sumeragi arrives around this time, and joins the Meisters at their home.

February 27th rolls around a few days later: Allelujah's twentieth birthday. He is feeling much better now, and a small party is thrown at the house. Val gets a unique idea for a gift, and enlisting the help of Setsuna, knocks Lockon unconscious and proceeds to dress him up like a prince and wrap him up in a huge box. They deliver him to Allelujah, who promptly nearly kills himself of laughter at seeing a very confused Prince Lockon. Val, deciding to make the best of the situation (and who has attempting to be matchmaker for some time now), asks Allelujah out to dinner the next night on Lockon's behalf. Still in a great mood and thoroughly amused, Allelujah agrees. Things eventually calm down, and Val and Setsuna leave.

The two Meisters, now that their laughter at the situation has died down some, have a conversation that turns serious. Lockon confesses that he wasn't affected during Valentine's Day after all; he had felt that way for him all along. Allelujah is taken aback by this, but finds that more than anything, he's happy. Still, he tells Lockon that he can't take him seriously when he's wearing a prince costume, and that he'd give a proper response the next day at dinner. They both end up talking about their pasts and the tragic events that had happened in them, and decide that despite the pain it caused them, they don't mind it as much since it led to them meeting each other.

They go to bed, but Allelujah ends up waking up around three in the morning, and is unable to get back to sleep. He gets the brilliant idea of taking a walk in the forest alone at that time of night to sort things through in his mind. It is then that he is taken captive by Grantz (one of the aforementioned evil scientists), who makes a post soon after gloating about his capture.

Grantz's intention is to experiment on Allelujah such that he will get rid of him as a personality, leaving only Hallelujah in the body. Before he begins, though, Professor Hojo decides to get in on the fun. He implants a prototype biomechanical device into him, which will eventually come into play. Of course, Hojo being Hojo, this isn't the end of his fun with him. He proceeds to interrogate and torture Allelujah, drugging him up and raping him as well.

At Soma's request, Grantz proceeds to kill Allelujah, slitting his throat. Allelujah loses the memories of his life before the Super Soldier Organization, any recollection of ever having a real family gone, and will be under the impression that he was created for the purposes for the SSO.

A trap that Kurama had laid for Grantz is then sprung, and Grantz finds himself completely immobilized due to a parasitic plant. He is forced to suicide rather than turn himself in. After reviving and hearing not only the news of Hojo's death via Elena and Logan but that a captured Wesker had divulged the location of the laboratory hideout, Grantz takes Allelujah and some of his equipment/plans and heads to a backup lab.

Grantz is not happy in the least bit at these developments, and proceeds to take out said unhappiness on Allelujah. Not only is he experimented on ruthlessly, but he is also tortured horribly, nails and teeth torn out and acidic liquids poured into gashes on his arms. He broadcasts part of the experiments and torture for the others to hear; the torture specifically to a select few, to let them know that Allelujah is paying for what they had done in regards to Hojo.

When he is finally released, Allelujah is now Hallelujah, and the kinder personality is nowhere to be felt. Hallelujah is angered beyond belief at this, scared, even, and swears that he will hunt down the scientists who had hurt him so much. His apparent insanity isn't missed by the rest of the citizens of Purgatorium, and Val's attempts to tell others to let her handle him ends up in a ShuRa-wide order to capture Hallelujah and bring him in, using lethal force if necessary. Unable to properly hunt because of this, he does what he can in regards to that but otherwise hides out in various places. He makes a few visits to the house that the Meisters and Sumeragi live in, deciding to take out some of his frustration by sexually harassing Tieria. Or he might have just done it for giggles. Your guess is as good as mine.

Several days pass, and he is unable to find Hojo and Grantz. Allelujah's absence is affecting him more and more: he had never in his life been alone before, and had always seen himself as Allelujah's protector in a way. It's more than a feeling of incompleteness, and Hallelujah talks to Roxas, who says that he can try using the keyblade to break the "seal" on Allelujah's personality and bring back the "light".

The process is done with some difficulty, and Allelujah returns. Immediately upon becoming conscious, however, he is faced with a rush of memories of everything that had been done to him by the two scientists. He loses consciousness again, unable to take the mental bombardment.

He is back in control, or rather, at least the dominant one at the time. The events of his captivity are still fresh in his mind and have traumatized him deeply, causing him to be extremely mentally unstable for several days. Allelujah keeps it to himself as much as he can, being very quiet, but it is obvious enough to the other Meisters by his terrified screaming at night due to nightmares. It is, interestingly enough, the Voice whose encouraging words bring him slightly out of it, making him decide that he needs to get over what happened to him as soon as he can, for the sake of the others.

Desperate for some stability in his life, Allelujah insists that he and Lockon go out on the date that they were supposed to go on the day after his birthday. There, he finally gives Lockon his answer; yes, he loves him too. The two are now 'officially' a couple.

Neena and Mihael Trinity arrive somewhere around this time, and of course, there is tension between them and the real Gundam Meisters. Hallelujah finds a hobby in taunting, mocking, and fighting with Mihael.

Allelujah and Lockon have a short conversation that leads to Allelujah thinking about the nature of Purgatorium. He comes to the conclusion that they are there to change, not to suffer for their sins; that for every bad thing that he has faced, there is also a good that has happened.

I need to believe. I need to know that this isn't limbo; this is purgatory, and there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I'll never have any grasp of my sanity if I don't believe that.

There's good to be found here, even in the darkest of times. ....as cliché as that sounds, you
have to believe that if you want to get by.

Time passes, and Allelujah comes to realize that though Roxas was able to bring him back, Grantz's experiments have left an effect: Hallelujah can take control whenever he pleases, without a trigger. It disturbs him, but as there is nothing he can do about it at the time, he simply notifies the others and prays that Hallelujah will behave.

Whether he'll ever get a vacation from it all is anyone's guess.

March 29, 2008:
As having a moment of peace in Purgatorium is impossible, Valeria gets kidnapped one night. Wesker is suspected to have done it, though there is no concrete proof. In an attempt to search the city to find her, Lockon and Allelujah come across an extremely injured Kanan (who had also been searching, but overtaken by a monster). They abandon their immediate search to bring Kanan back to their home, where they clean and patch her up as best they can. She stays at the Meister household from this point on.

The next day, Allelujah is plagued by a nightmare. However, this one is different from the others. While he had been having night terrors about his time in activity before (though they have become much less frequent), this one in particular is about Lockon dying. He is more than shaken by this, to say the very least. Lockon attempts to comfort him, but the end result: Allelujah decides that he will never leave Purgatorium, and will keep Lockon with him there. As well, Allelujah's growing reliance and obsession with Lockon shines through clearly. He swears that if Lockon dies, he'll be following directly behind him. He is using Lockon to rebuild his sanity, but it's moving from sweet to unhealthy.

It's a little after this that something...unexpected happens. Hallelujah had become acquaintances with Grimmjow some time back, shortly after the Grantz incident. Grimmjow ends up having to wear a leather collar after a lost bet with Claire, and some teasing and "flirting" with him on Hallelujah's end ends up in an...encounter in the church. Long story short, Allelujah goes off to scrub his skin raw in the bathhouse shortly after.

The two psychotic bastards end up starting a sorts of "relationship" after this. Friends with benefits, to put it simply, at the time. Despite his annoyance at the situation, Allelujah finds himself talking to Grimmjow more and becoming friends with him. Well, in Grimmjow's eyes, he's a "person he doesn't want dead", at the least.

The increased interaction with Grimmjow causes a few little events here in there, including the arrancar "kidnapping" Lockon one night (which ends up in a giant boozefest). Allelujah becomes friends with Claire, who had been hesitant towards him at first due to her dislike of Hallelujah.

Allelujah, frustrated with himself for letting trauma get the best of him, finally goes ahead and jumps Lockon. Well. Not exactly jumps, but. He decides to get over his own fears and go ahead and be intimate with the other Meister. Afterwards, he confesses that he does want to stay in Purgatorium forever, and asks Lockon to stay with him. Though a little pessimistic about the situation and seeing Allelujah as being naïve, Lockon agrees to keep him happy.

Around now, Setsuna becomes the second Meister victim of Grantz. He is killed by Soma, now working for the scientist. Setsuna returns the day after, though if Grantz had experimented on him, it hasn't been shown yet. Allelujah attempts to call out Soma for a fight to get revenge, but Grantz warns her not to go, and so he contents himself with making her question herself and the SSO.

The gods decide it's time for a new event. This time, it's gender-bending. Allelujah wakes up from a nap to find out that he suddenly has breasts and is lacking certain other parts. The other Meisters switch as well (Lockon being 'blessed' with Sumeragi-sized boobs). For whatever reason, in a conversation about Allelujah's clothing, he and Grimmjow end up making a bet regarding Grimmjow thinking that he looks like a hooker. ...yeah. This in addition to some verbal sexual harassment (in Grimm's own loving little fashion) cause Lockon to step in and get into a bit of an argument with Grimmjow about it. However, Lockon eventually steps back so as not to look a jealous, way too overprotective boyfriend. Allelujah finds out about this, sighs, and wishes to smack both of them in the head with a chair.

In continuing conversations with both Soma and Grantz, the incident where he destroyed the SSO facility is brought up. He finds himself lost in thought about it, still wonders the exact reason why he did it and just what it says about him.

The Meisters' lives are thrown for a loop with the arrival of none other than Aeolia Schenberg, the founder of Celestial Being. Both teams of Meisters, both the four stationed on the Ptolemaios and Team Trinity, are reluctantly gathered together and told to work with each other, as it would seem that Celestial Being will be properly put together in Purgatorium.

Kanan, who Allelujah now sees as a little sister, begins to become friends with Johann Trinity. To say the least, Allelujah and Lockon aren't pleased, but as they have no choice, reluctantly allow the friendship to happen. It is also decided that there will be a proper Celestial Being headquarters where all Meisters and crew will live.

Claire is kidnapped by Elle, and Hallelujah goes to rescue her along with Adam, Grimmjow, and Wonderwice. This ends in a mass maiming of Elle, which leads to the four being put on-notice by Wesker. Whoops.

Hallelujah once again decides to have some sexual-harassment-of-Tieria-fun. Tieria had changed as well, but had been hiding it by bandaging down his chest (and considering his usual appearance, not much else had changed.) He gropes the purple-haired Meister only to find out that there's something missing. And so, tears open the pink sweater to reveal cardigan puppies. And laughs. A lot. Unfortunately, Tieria decides to get revenge by shooting him in the leg.

Extremely pissed off at Tieria (and the other household members for not doing anything but chatting away after it), Hallelujah limps off to meet Grimmjow, who ironically enough, has also been shot in the leg (by Adam). The two perform what first aid they can, sit around, chat, and bond in their own weird way.

Allelujah turns back into a male, but oh no, that's not the end of the brainfuckery. He comes face to face (over the network) with none other than...himself? There is now another H/Allelujah in Purgatorium, and no one knows why. It's suspected that it is a trick of the gods, but no one knows for sure. Hallelujah talks to his other, finding out that the other's Allelujah is broken and shattered. After much persisting, the other Hallelujah tells him: he's from a few weeks in the future, and by that point, Lockon has died. The two discuss how the other Allelujah has been affected by that, and Hallelujah finds himself increasingly disturbed, and truth be told, feeling a strong sense of pity for his other.

He finds the other Hallelujah and takes him back to stay with him and Grimmjow for the time. Because of the delicate situation, he as well tells Lockon to stay far away from the duplicate, especially the Allelujah. It isn't long before Lockon puts two and two together. He does what he can to joke it off, but begins to consider Allelujah's proposal to stay in Purgatorium forever a bit more seriously. Allelujah asks to talk to his other, and is confused by the way he is acting---when he tries to cheer him up and tell him that he can rely on not only Hallelujah but on others, he gets the response of "The others are...Lockon..." Before he can continue, the other Hallelujah steps in to stop it. Allelujah is extremely suspicious now, but has not yet found out the truth.
